As a Scout leader with 1st Hartford Scouts, I am one of over 28 million scouts, of every faith, culture and gender, based across 216 countries and territories around the world.

Scouting was started in 1907 by Lord Baden-Powell so that made 2007 the ‘Centenary of Scouting’. To celebrate a whole programme of events took place throughout the year and the UK was the host for the 2007 Jamboree in London, attended by over 30,000 scouts from all over the world. Scouting is alive and well, BIG and expanding!

1st Hartford Scouts was established in 1909. We currently run five successful scouting sections, looking after over 125 boys and girls from around the Hartford area.

• Beavers (aged 6 to 8)
• Cubs (aged 8 to 10½)
• Scouts (aged 10½ to 14)
• Explorers (aged 14 to 18)
• Scout Network (18+)

Interested ?

For the kids, scouting is a great experience that is never forgotten. It provides outdoor adventure, and develops new skills, teamwork, personal confidence and great friendships, for all who attend. It is challenging and interesting, but most of all ‘fun’, and it’s not just for kids. So if your an adult and would like to help out or become a leader, even part time, you will find that the rewards are well worth the effort.. All are welcome, so if your interested, for your children or yourself, contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have and to assist you in finding a suitable scout group in your area.
